Yusen Logistics net profit more than doubled in the first nine months of the fiscal year ending in March 2016. Net sales grew 7.4% to reach 358,954.0 million yen, as operating income climbed 19.4% to reach 7,514.0 million yen.
Sea freight volumes increased year on year, while air freight volumes remained firm, as the performance at contract logistics improved, off the back of increased revenues, greater operational efficiency and continued investment.
The Company reported strong international growth in revenue that offset a decrease in domestic revenue. Revenue in Japan decreased 5.2% over the 9M period, to 62,773.0 million yen. Revenue in Europe climbed 5.4% to 80,517.0 million yen, in the Americas it increased 14.7% to 90,088.0 million yen and in South Asia and Oceania revenue grew 5.5% to reach 71,584.0 million yen. In East Asia, excluding Japan, revenue increased 19.1% to 66,465.0 million yen.
