Sheldon Clayton Logistics, the transport and logistics company based in West Bromwich is celebrating a milestone this year, as it marks their 40th year of trading. Throughout 2016 the midlands based business is celebrating in style with events, promotions and VIP privileges for their customers.
Founded by Chairman David Sheldon in 1976, Sheldon Clayton Logistics began through serving the oil and gas industry boom in Scotland with one single truck running to and from Aberdeen. For many people today it is this service the company is known for however it has grown over the past 40 years now offering solutions within most aspects of the supply chain including recently launching their newest range of services spanning across Europe.
With Dave still an integral part of the business, he is extremely proud to have made it to this milestone.
“An opportunity presented itself to me around 40 years ago, the North Sea Oil and Gas Fields. So I grabbed this with both hands and built myself a nice little business. We grew the business through acquisition of some ten local companies so now although we are transport based, we cover many aspects of the supply chain”
The company has thrived in recent years, in 2013 they began to increase the awareness of the Sheldon Clayton Logistics brand by investing in around 60 new Mercedes trucks and 80 trailers adorning the company colours and logo, making them more recognisable.
Steve Coldicott, a Director at the company said
“Branding the trucks has been the start of a great new development. Having the Sheldon Clayton Logistics name visible on the roads has been brilliant for us, so many more people recognise us now and being more noticeable on the road has increased our brand reliability.
“Once the trucks were complete, the offices followed suit with a full re-style both inside and out and the completion of our new Visitor Centre. We are extremely proud of the environment we now have as our head office and are looking to continue our investment into the infrastructure and people of Sheldon Clayton Logistics”.
With the foresight for collaboration the company has acquired several smaller businesses over the past decade, creating a 150 strong workforce across all departments and the resources to suit. The company has also celebrated many success stories over the past 12 months, with recent service launches offering groupage to destinations across Europe, the completion of the newest warehouse and also raising over £1000 for local charity Sandwell Parents for Disabled Children
Sheldon Clayton Logistics accredits their success to a loyal customer base, mainly located with the Midlands area.

Last month Sheldon Clayton Logistics held their first celebration in the form of a customer open day at their new visitor centre. Customers spent the morning at the Sheldon Clayton Logistics site with presentations from staff and Barclays bank, tours, networking and photograph opportunities with the Premier League Trophy.
Across the next twelve months the company will be running promotions across their website and social media platforms, holding open days at the company offices, and also offering VIP Privileges to their customer base.
