DX expands with Ikea

DX Group has revealed the details of its expanded Ikea contract, alluded to in its half year results in March.

The troubled carrier will provide a “bespoke logistics solution for customer deliveries” under the terms of the enlarged deal.

The contract is for an initial three years and takes the total value of the company's contracted logistics work for Ikea to approximately £19m per annum.

DX already provides a logistics service, supporting its online sales in two regions and its store business in Reading. It will now also support Ikea's sales across seven additional stores.

To service the enlarged contract, DX will operate dedicated service centres, situated in proximity to each Ikea store.

It will also offer same-day two-man deliveries, advanced booking and a returns service.

Stuart Godman, MD of DX Freight, said:

"We are delighted to have expanded and extended the services that we provide to Ikea.

“This contract is further evidence of DX Logistics's ability to deliver high volumes to an exacting standard, and we look forward to continuing to deliver an excellent service to IKEA and all our customers."

Last week, DX announced it had sold some of its sites and borrowed £2m from a shareholder to repay a bank loan.

In December, Wincanton said it had secured a four-year contract to provide support at two new DCs for the Swedish retailer.
