3PL of the Year Award - Sponsored by Dennison Trailers

Dennison is a leading manufacturer in both the UK and Ireland dominating the container transport sector. The company is also experiencing significant growth in other markets including construction, timber, steel and oil industries.

In Ireland, Dennison is the market leader in the supply of tipping trailers and in the UK Dennison dominates the skeletal trailer market. The company is also experiencing significant growth in sales of curtainsiders, platform and trombone trailers and its range of machinery carriers.

Throughout its history, Dennison has been an innovative company, with continuous research and development being at the core of the business. In 1977, Dennison became the first and only company in Ireland to develop and manufacture its own tractor units, producing 250 Dennison trucks over four years at a site in Co. Dublin. In 2002, Dennison developed the unique sliding tipper trailer concept. Designed to benefit operators currently running 8 x 4 rigid tippers, the sliding tipper offers higher payload, greater fuel efficiency, more flexibility in operation and considerably greater maneuverability on site, including sites where access and space are limited. The outstanding success of the sliding tipper in the Irish market has led to the development of a range of sliding bogie trailers for the construction industry, including the sliding mixer and sliding brick and block carriers.

Infrastructure Innovation of the Year Award - sponsored by Apex Supply Chain Technologies

We’ve been game-changers since the beginning. It all started more than three decades ago, when founder Kent Savage began a series of ground-breaking inventions in automated dispensing that continue through the present day. In 1991, following a long and successful career in the traditional vending industry, he first introduced the concept of Industrial Vending. In 2006, Apex brought its robust, revolutionary Point-of-Work automation systems and Cloud-based, Connect n’ Go technologies to the market.

Fast-forward a few years, and you’ll see our automated dispensing systems spanning the globe. Our insight-driven solutions power diverse industries: transportation, healthcare, mining, MRO, PPE, asset management and more.

The Apex story is all about results. The largest and most successful deployments of automated Point-of-Use systems are all built on Apex solutions and supported with Apex services. Today, Apex customers and partners range from small, independent companies to the ranks of global manufacturing giants – GE, P&G, 3M – innovative distribution organisations and countless service providers, institutions and other forward thinking organisations. Over 15,000 organisations have deployed Apex systems. Hundreds have deployed them at five or more sites, many with 100 or more devices.

So far we deployed more than 70,000 devices in more than 40 countries on 6 continents. And we’re just getting started.

Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme - sponsored by Bridgestone

The award will recognise companies which are making increased fuel efficiency and carbon emissions reduction a priority within their fleet operation.  Operators which are adopting improved operational and technological measures are urged to apply for the award, and receive recognition for their efforts.

Managed by FTA, the LCRS was introduced in 2009 and is designed to recognise the efforts made by individual scheme members to reduce their carbon emissions from freight activity.  The Scheme, which now has over 125 members nationwide, demonstrates to government how logistics is contributing to reducing the sector’s impact on the environment, without the need for regulation or additional taxation.

Full details on the LCRS and how to apply for the new award is available at www.fta.co.uk/lcrs.  The closing date for entries is 1700 hours on Thursday 2 March 2017.
